Spanish newspaper El Espanol reports that according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the tourist capital of the Costa Blanca is experiencing a surge in tourism.
With 433,171 stays it was the second most popular to Madrid, which had 678,886 visitors in the same period.
In general, so far this year, establishments in Benidorm have registered 1.8 million overnight stays. This comes after a virtual shutdown of the hotel and the entertainment industries in Valencia and other reasons in April 2021 that made tourist activity impossible.
Even better news, according to the newspaper, is the fact that in the Valencian territory—of which Benidorm is part—rising energy, fuel, food, and beverage prices are not being passed onto customers, and prices remain around pre-Covid levels.
The report found:
Average prices and income per room in the region are well below the average for the sector in Spain.
The city of Valencia itself has only recorded a price of 1.3 percent.
