Special gala evenings will begin on December 25, followed by a Boxing Day special on the 26th. Next on the year-end programme will be a New Year’s Eve extravaganza featuring two magnificent orchestras. Eurovision Fun reports that Spanish broadcaster RTVE has announced that 876 songs have been submitted for the event which, in 2022, saw thousands gather in Benidorm around the giant, newly-installed Tecnohito display at the heart of the Old Town. Image courtesy LED DREAM RTVE said that the quality of the songs has been better than last year’s. Record labels have been actively involved in the selection process. Moreover, there will be “more professional candidates” in the contest, among them well-known artists. Judges will narrow the 876 songs down to 16 for the national selection. Benidorm Fest 2023 will take place from January 29 until February 04.
