Unusual Warmth Hits the Province of Alicante

The last week of April is bringing unusual warmth to the province of Alicante, with temperatures reaching summer-like levels that are not typical for this time of year. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), we can expect a weekend with very high temperatures, with some parts of the Valencian Community reaching up to 38º by the end of the week.

High Temperatures Expected Across the Region

Starting on Friday, the temperatures are expected to climb even higher, with some parts of the Valencian Community expected to reach 37º. Inland areas of the province of Alicante, including towns like Cocentaina, Alcoy, Elda, and Villena, are predicted to exceed 32º. Meanwhile, coastal areas like Alicante, Torrevieja, Santa Pola, Benidorm, and Calpe will also experience significant temperature increases, reaching up to 26º and 23º.

Warmest April on Record

Saturday is expected to bring even higher temperatures, with some areas reaching up to 38º. According to Aemet, this could be the warmest episode recorded in the Valencian Community during the month of April since at least 1950. Although temperatures on the Valencian coast may not be as high as inland areas, they are still considered “average temperatures more typical of early July” by Aemet.
